Sitting down with strangers in an unfamiliar café for two hours is nerve-racking. What you really want to know was never the time and place — it’s who’ll be there, and whether it’ll be awkward.
So for every Coffee Chat we tell you first what the people at the table do: working, studying, switching careers, and roughly what background. Names and contact details are shared only after the host confirms you.
How it works

Say what you want to talk about
Bring a specific question. The host reads what you write to put the table together — the more specific, the more likely you’ll be confirmed.

Meet once confirmed
Once the host confirms your seat, the café address is sent to you 48 hours before it starts.
Why the host confirms
Because getting the right mix of people matters more than how many show up. Each rule serves that:
- Hosts read every application
- They’re not screening people out — they’re putting a table together, so people who are working, switching and studying end up with plenty to talk about.
- The address goes only to confirmed guests
- Sent 48 hours before. Not to be mysterious — so everyone sitting there on the day is someone who said they’d come.
- One table per time slot
- Applying to several at once to hedge ends up costing two hosts — neither knows which one you’ll show up to.
